Paris in Love with WSA Global Champions

The world’s first online platform for micro financing, the first African app to detect counterfeit drugs, and the first Canadian edutainment portal for deaf children: These are three from among eight “WSA Global Champions” that have been awarded Tuesday night at the first UN WSIS +10 Review Meeting in Paris.
Awarding Local Content with Global Relevance
WSA has been awarding the world’s best content developers on a biennial basis since 2003. The eight WSA Global Champions that were honoured in Paris had been selected by an international expert’s jury from among the 200 products that won the WSA within the last 10 years.
“Smart technology or smart people?”
According to WSA initiator Peter A. Bruck, the eight selected products prove the important role of e-Content for an inclusive knowledge society: “With six billion mobile connections all around the globe, the means of communication and information have ceased to be scarce and the talk about information society is about the present, not the future. In 2013 the challenge is what these means are to be used for: Smart technology or smart people? The products honoured clearly show quality content’s potential to foster a global knowledge society.”
