Peter A. Bruck, born 1950 in Vienna, is a lawyer, communication- & social scientist and economist. He has taught as a professor at American, Canadian and European universities. He has also worked as a Manager at Telekom Austria AG and in the extended management of several research firms. In addition, he has initiated research institutes in Canada and Austria and founded four companies.

As General Manager and Chief Scientist of Research Studios Austria Forschungsgesellschaft (RSA FG), Peter A. Bruck heads seven research studios in Austria, which cooperate closely with the universities of Vienna, Linz, Salzburg and Innsbruck.

As Chief Scientist at RSA FG, Bruck is the driving force behind creative applications based on a modular, iterative prototyping research process. His area of responsibility spans the entire innovation process: from the development of new communication technologies and IT applications to the implementation of market-ready products and solutions. Over the course of his research activities, he has authored nearly 20 books and published papers in international scientific journals.

His personal research interest focuses on interactive media, its design, its content and its use. New information and communication technologies – and the changes brought about by them in social relations, business, mass media, culture and society – continue to captivate Bruck time and again.

Peter A. Bruck is co-founder and President of Science Conference Austria, the platform for independent, non-university research institutions in Austria. Furthermore, he is Honorary President of the Board of the International Center for New Media (ICNM), Chairman of the European Academy for Digital Media and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UN World Summit Award.

He is the initiator of the Austrian State Prize for Multimedia and e-Business, as well as the European competition for excellent multimedia content (EURO PRIX). Bruck is also Chairman of the Council of Europe’s committee on media pluralism in Europe. For his outstanding contribution to Austrian science and international research, Bruck received the Honorary Cross for Science and Art of the Republic of Austria in 2005 and the honorary doctorate of the University of SS. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, Slovakia, in 2012, in addition to other honors.

Peter A. Bruck is married, with five children and three grandchildren.
